Cookstr features dishes you’ll actually want to prepare

Though some readers may be familiar with the year-old cooking site Cookstr, Thanksgiving presents an opportunity to remind you that there are alternatives to blindly searching the Internet for recipes.

In lieu of scores of different ways to deep fry turducken, Cookstr offers a curated list of recipes provided by a roster of 250 star chefs and cookbook authors (including Alice Waters, Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Julia Child and Jamie Oliver, among others).

The site also boasts a superfast search functionality and a streamlined Web 2.0 interface.  As a result finding inventive (but tried and true) recipes from people who cook really, really well for a living is easy and quick.

We’re planning to improve our familial relationships with at least two dishes found on the site: Nigela Lawson’s maple-roast parsnips and David Burke’s pumpkin brulee.

Not that there’s anything wrong with deep-fried turducken, should you go that route…
