More Creatively Specify Your Geolocation

What3Words gave three words for every location

“Where are we meeting?” can be a hard question to answer.

“At the park” is way too imprecise, but “half a mile off the path, past that weird rock, near the kid with the kite” might leave you wandering the wilderness.

From here on in, you’ll only need three words to find any precise spot on the planet, thanks to What3Words.

We’re still wrapping our brains around this fact: What3Words, a Google-powered mapping site, has assigned a unique three-word phrase to every two meter piece of land on the planet.

That means everything from the Champs d’Elysees (serious.confirms.lied) to the bottom of the Mariana Trench (barbeque.assigned.experimented) has a unique three word code. Plus, you can buy and name your own spots for a buck a year.

That’s a neat trick, but with What3Words’ site, Android app, or iPhone app, you can also directly email your spot and immediately provide precise directions to any spot on the planet.

Added bonus? We now know we must have fans in the Sahara.
